We’re thrilled to have Professor Sandra Chan join us for Mentor Training Session #2 this year! She shared invaluable insights into understanding youth mental health, emphasizing key contributing factors and how mentors and schools can create supportive environments that prioritize mental well-being.
Through the session, mentors learned to:
Understand Mental Health Challenges – Recognizing common issues like anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and their impact on youth.
Recognize Warning Signs – Identifying symptoms such as persistent sadness, excessive worry, or changes in behavior.
Promote Healthy Practices – Encouraging exercise, creative expression, and mindfulness to boost mental health.
Foster Open Communication – Building empathy, active listening, and creating safe spaces for youth to share their feelings.
We hope this training enhances mindfulness skills, increases emotional awareness, promotes stress management, encourages reflective listening, and builds resilience for improved well-being. Let’s work together to support our youth and create a more caring, compassionate and inclusive community!
